I did my part. I joined a record number of Americans who didn't tune into the award cermonies last night. I know actors and other film people like to give each other a lot of awards, but I mean, c'mon, we already rewarded them plenty when we paid waaay too much at the theater. If I had to single out people for awards, it would be certain soliders, teachers, missionaries and other workers of mercy in tortured lands, firemen, and little old ladies to volunteer their time for local charities. And besides the question of whether actors need to be congratulated yet more still, there's the whole issue about which people and works are worthy of such praise. This seems to be getting more specious each year. This year, we have a new low with Bowling for Columbine, which I can see as a farce, but not a documentary, as Mike Dunnagan argues. Add your two cents...
