I'm watching CNN. They're going over poll results which show, they allege, a "credibility gap" for the Bush administration. The specifics? When asked, 61% of those polled don't feel Bush has explained how long the war will last, and 71% don't feel Bush has explained how many may be killed. Duh!!! I'm wondering where they found the 29% who said they did know how many would be killed. I detest stupid, leading polls like this one. Do these people cover sports and claim that the coach has a "credibility gap" when he can't say how many points will be scored during an upcoming game, or how many injuries there will be? ("Well, Bob, we're not sure yet if the other team will be following the rules we're bound to, or whether they'll be carrying concealed weapons in their jerseys...") I'm amazed Wolf Blitzer can discuss this poll with a straight face. Perhaps I shouldn't be. i think those who posted statements about how the press' quotes and questions on the war are being too aggressive. its better to state that you disagree with something then explain your argument then to label a comment or a question idiotic. taking someone's right to freedom of speech and immediately assuming its idiotic is an attack on freedom of speech itself, which goes against what are very forefathers laid down for us. Posted by: fred on August 11, 2003 11:15 PM I think the "most trusted name in news" is beginning to be only a logo for CNN. It is hard to trust views from a news source that is turning ever more to the left politically. I would rather watch the weather channel where I know things are at least half way true... CNN has become more of a political statement rather than an actual news source. It is all about pushing for the more liberal agenda every day. And I am so sick of seeing pretentious, juvenile delinquents in front of my screen shoving their lack of morality and common decency down my throat with every breath. Posted by: Sharol on November 4, 2003 07:16 PM Sharol: You're spot on the money. And CNN can no longer claim itself to be the most trusted name in news anymore -- it's ratings are deep in the toilet. Folks don't like elitist journalists with hidden agendas, and elitist journalists can't stand the folks thinkin' fer' 'emsevles... We should all have the privelege of stepping up to these 'journalists' and giving them a good slap in the face and a stern warning, "Just give us the news, dammit!" Can you make sense of this? Yet another intelligent spokesperson for the left. Full sentences? Verbs? Commas? No, those are luxuries. Let's all just emote now, okay? Thanks for the new standard on life BUSH. As if he doesn't support abortion on demand for any reason. As if his own standard of living had been somehow degraded. Of course people die when bombs are dropped. Of course. It's one of the reasons the armed forces have tried so hard to avoid civilian casualties. But to look at only one side of that story, as if there were no other effects to consider? To pretend Saddam hadn't killed several million people? To pretend he wasn't trying to gear up for that again the minute sanctions were dropped, as we now know he was? To pretend people weren't dying every day in Iraq already, while the UN and Saddam conspired and pocketed the money meant to feed and help ordinary Iraqis? To not weigh the 85,000 or so he killed each year against the 10,000 - 15,000 civilians killed during the war? Can you not see, as tragic as those 15,000 losses might be, that the war still saved about 80,000 Iraqi lives per year? And that number will continue to improve, rather than see a further decline, as we would have otherwise? Don't you even care about things like this? What an odd thing: Trodden-upon people all over the mideast, including Iraq, Iran, Egypt, and certainly also Lebanon, are very excited about the changes happening. Many Iraqis are thrilled to see Saddam in custody, even if it has also had a cost. And did you hear what feelings Iraqis and Afghanis expressed during their elections? And this guy, being part of the left who says they "care" about the little guy, doesn't seem to care a whit for their feelings. How odd that the American left protests against America "on behalf" of Iraqis and Afghanis and often defends the "insurgents", while the Iraqis themselves are protesting against the terrorists -- the very terrorists the left calls the "authentic" voice of Iraq! I think some of the questions that the press ask are "IDIOTIC". The one about the "War Time Frame" , we went to War last week. How can this be determine?! It can't. As far as a % on the Troops deaths, what is wrong with the press? And to issue a poll on this topic is plan "SICK".
WHY NOT ASK,
Why was Saddam's Troops on "High Alert" one week before Sept 11 ,2001? Info in Book title, "Saddam, King of Terror".
How do American's feel about the ,Portrait, painting, found in Iraq of the Bombings on the Twin Towers in NY, USA by US troops?
How do American and UK feel about the soldiers with bullet holes in their heads?
And to Wolf Blitzer, stop cutting the important people off when they are discussing the true issues of the war just because you hear a bomb go off. We, the CNN viewers all know the bombing is going on every night!
