Sorry, I'd planned to stay off this topic, but I felt this needed saying... I recently stumbled across a posting from "Voz de Aztlan", in another context, which announced that there were websites which purported to be Christian, but were actually controlled by Jews pretending to be Christians. Their proof? The purported Christians appeared more sympathetic to Israel than groups like Hamas, and accused them of (can you believe it?) anti-semitism! Wake up and smell the coffee, folks. In case you hadn't noticed it, Christianity and modern Judaism descend from the same belief system and share a similar worldview and common set of ethics. And opposing the methods used by Hamas is, in my opinion, a no-brainer. Further you don't have to agree with a single thing Israel does to expose antisemitism for what it is. Guess I'm actually a Jew masquerading as a Christian, too? As many of you may know already, the Voz de Aztlan website is rabidly anti-semitic, featuring great articles like: "Israelization of the USA and it's Danger to Mexico", "The Northwoods Project" (9/11 was committed by Jews and the Pentagon), "The Manjewrian Candidate" (Gray Davis), "The Kosher Nostra Scam" (which reveals the earth-shattering news that some products are marked as Kosher!! how horrific!), and of course the ever-popular fantasy "Protocols of the Elders of Zion." Now I'm told MEChA is not racist, and isn't associated with this particular group. So, looking to the official MEChA website for a disclaimer, I only find: Myth #6: MEChA is affiliated with The Voz de Aztlan website. Fact: MEChAs all over California have denounced The Voz de Azltan for its rabid homophobia Great. Glad you've denounced Voz de Aztlan for it's "rabid homophobia." (I didn't see any of that, but, well whatever.) But what about it's much-more-rabid antisemitism? We read in another clause that MEChA is opposed to racism, but it might be nice to see some evidence. Instead the silence is like that of CAIR on Islamic terrorism. Even if were somehow able to conclude that MEChA wasn't racist in the slightest, it remains unclear whether this organization holds values most non-Hollywood residents would support. For example, their CSU Fullerton chapter publishes this article, "Fidel Castro and his long reign of freedom": Fidel Castro is a great leader who has been stigmatized as an “evil dictator” by the U.S. government. On the contrary, Fidel Castro is one of the greatest revolutionaries “Latin America” has ever seen... His achievements are comparable to that of any great freedom fighter and he should be given credit for the universal freedom he has brought to the Cuban people. Fidel Castro is one of our greatest hero’s [sic] and once our people discover his many achievements and refute the U.S. propaganda which has been fed to us, he will finally get the respect he deserves. (Doesn't the author notice the contradiction between reign and freedom?) Yeah, tell us all about the "universal freedom" the Cuban people enjoy. Let them come to your campus and testify about it. Oh wait, you say they're not allowed to leave? Or is it that they could never envision leaving such a paradise! UPDATE: Instapundit references John Leo's comments on this same topic: Defenders of MEChA portray it as a benign social group now distant from its radical roots. But that portrait is hard to square with the information put out on MEChA sites today. Those sites tell Chicanos not to work outside the bronze race and to condemn "multinational" alliances. And there are hints of violence. El Plan calls for "self-defense against the occupying forces of the oppressors" and mentions "the utilization of our bodies for war."
