If you've visted Clayton Cramer's blog you may have noticed he's encouraging people to boycott Amazon.com because they carry a book which defends pedophilia as beneficial for all involved. I was reminded of this tonight while watching the local news: It seems a local man had discovered an animated gay porn video amongst the kids' DVD section in Amazon.com. The name of the video itself could not be printed on TV though it was shown among The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo. I don't even want to ponder what children would have read in the customer reviews, had they clicked it. When he called them to complain, they told him that he was lying about it! and refused to do anything about it. Several months later, the video was still there. He contacted the local news, who called Amazon. Now Amazon explained it was a mistake attributed to an automated system which automatically classified all animated content as appropriate for children. (Of course! How could it possibly be otherwise?) Later, still, they'd finally removed the DVD. But the VHS version was still there. Look, we all understand mistakes are made. But that's not the problem -- rather it seems that Amazon is simply a lot more concerned about making a quick buck than doing what's beneficial for kids. I doubt this man was the first to complain. But it wasn't worth looking into, in their view, until a TV news channel called them. Something to consider. Add your two cents...
