It's old news, but I just stumbled upon these comments by Vox Day. In response to this:
Vox responds:
As a conservative, I don't think there's any problem with giving women more restroom space than men, in view of certain biological, uh, realities. Instead, my main objection is that this has been legally mandated, rather than just done voluntarily in response to customer needs. Of course, since women, then, require more restroom space, it also makes sense to allow such establishments to pass the cost along to them by selling tickets (or food, etc.) at different rates to men and women, with women paying the higher cost. :-) Such an idea would be no different than the logic by which hairdressers charge different rates for men's cuts and those of women, or by which there are "Ladies' Night" at many bars. But that exposes the real illogic, doesn't it? It's not wrong to mandate women be given twice as much restroom space. But charge large ("oversized") people more to fly, charge women more for haircuts, or have a "Ladies' Night" with free drinks for the gals and, *whammo*, you're a bigoted, discriminating sexist. As far as I can see, the only guiding principle is that if it makes any kind of practical economic sense, it must be illegal. If not, we'll mandate it. And that's my objection. Add your two cents...
