An Esteemed Leftist Academic

Oh.

My.

Gosh.

First, take a look at this curriculum vitae for Dr. Michael Salla, Ph.D.

Pretty impressive, no? Check out some of the weighty-sounding titles this guy can pin to his lapel, including stuff like this:

  • Ph.D. in Government from the University of Queensland, Australia
  • Served as "Associate of the Centre for Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies"
  • Wrote "Managing Transition in the East Timor Conflict"
  • Authored "Religio-nationalist conflict: developing effective conflict resolution strategies"
  • Authored "Islamic Radicalism, Muslim Nations and the West"
  • Sole author of "The Hero's Journey Toward a Second American Century"

And another web site offers this description:

Dr. Michael E. Salla has held academic appointments in the School of International Service, American University, Washington DC (1996-2001), and the Department of Political Science, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia (1994-96). He taught as an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University, Washington DC., in 2002.

Etc, etc. If you were presented with a list of credentials for a guy like this before he appeared on a talk show, you'd give him your full attention, would you not? Sounds like a great guy to book on numerous topics, no?

Most people would probably think so.

Imagine if he criticized the US's approach to this or that, or warned us about the misguidedness of Bush's policies. Gosh, why isn't Bush listening to a guy with these kind of credentials, you might think.

Okay, time for the cold water. Turns out he really has such advice to give. And here it is: "The Secret Race to Control Iraqi Extraterrestrial Heritage: The Real Reason all Nations Want Control of Iraq".

No, it's not the oiiiil, boys and girls. It's the ALIEN TECHNOLOGY!

In a televised address to the Nation on March 17, President Bush gave Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, 48 hours to leave Iraq together with his sons to prevent a U.S. led invasion. On March 19, soon after the deadline had expired, President Bush ordered surgical air strikes on Baghdad, (formerly Babylon), and the 'second gulf war' had formally begun....

In 1976, a scholar translating ancient Sumerian cuneiform texts published the first of his books, The 12th Planet.... He described technological wonders possessed by the Anunnaki, and described a factional war between the Anunnaki who finally departed the planet around 1700 BC. Furthermore, Sitchin described the home world of these beings as a mysterious planet that periodically returns to the vicinity of the solar system every 3,600 years....

Key figures in the Bush administration, were most likely aware of any time line that existed in terms of a possible return of the Anunnaki home world...

As a result of their association with the Department of Defense, many if not all of these, would have been familiar with clandestine activities to reverse engineer ET technology and the true reason motivating regime change in Iraq.

These officials included Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and his deputy Paul Wolfowitz, the deputy secretary of state, Richard Armitage, Richard Perle, chairman of the Defense Policy Board, a Pentagon advisory panel, and finally Vice President Richard Cheney…

In the context of heightened tension and uncertainty, following the U.S. led invasion of Iraq, the following policy recommendations can be made to help navigate through the dangerous times ahead.

* Full public disclosure of the ET presence in human affairs and the historical role played by different ET's in their interaction with humanity.

* Full disclosure of all astronomical data that can confirm whether a tenth planet to the solar system exists that has an orbit of approximately 3,600 years.

* A UN mandate for administrating a postwar Iraq in order to ensure cooperation and consensus among major powers over how Iraq's ET heritage is used is benefit all humanity...

You get the idea. You must check out the page -- the artwork is precious.

I hope it's a hoax. Academic nutcakes are one thing, but the abuse of commas and elipses demonstrated here borders on cruel and inhuman. Sadly, it seems genuine:

In May, 2001, thoroughly discouraged with the conceptual tools, theories and models he had researched, taught and applied for five years in the School of International Service, American University, Washington DC, Professor Salla resigned from his position in order to explore alternative theories and concepts that would help him identify the core factors that drive and perpetuate international conflict.

(Apparently, he has the same "discouragement" with the limits imposed by established rules of grammar...)

EXOPOLITICS is the result of Dr. Salla’s research, conducted without official approval by supervisors in his new academic appointment as an untenured researcher of “Transformational Peace” in the Center for Global Peace at American University. It reveals the core actors, institutions and processes that drive international conflict and are directly related to an undisclosed extraterrestrial presence.

Just remember how good Dr. Salla, PhD, looked on paper. And how credible he'd look on a talk show. And that he has numerous academic credentials and appointments.

Had he been spouting leftist fictions (as it sounds like his other papers are oriented that way) he might be taken very seriously. But this particular fruitcake is fixated on the aliens, not the Zionist plot to rule the world.

So instead we have a good laugh.

Remember that next time you get impressed by someone's academic credentials: You can believe the stuff Dr. Michael Salla does and get those kinds of positions and awards. I wonder how many other academics at these places -- like "Center for Global Peace, American University, Washington, DC" -- share views that are just as well-formed and sustainable as these.

Like, perhaps, that dictators can be controlled through peace negotiations. (Which is only slightly less believable than the return of the Anunnaki aliens' homeworld.)

Kudos to one of Luskin's leftist readers for the link, probably (and sadly) offered in all seriousness.
