First, this appears to pour a bit of water on critics' contention that Bush is a "dangerous religious extremist" -- unless they were even more apoplectic about Clinton. Of course, they have an easy comeback: They could argue that Clinton wasn't really being sincere. I could generously grant them that, I suppose. The other notion to which this gives lie is that it's Bush's purported "religiosity" which fuels critics. No, as Olsaky correctly observes, it appears merely to be a double standard that permits liberals to wax eloquently about God, while conservatives must emit nary a peep on the matter. Add your two cents...

That's funny. I blogged this morning that believing politicians don't do it often enough. For instance, in his speech at the convention, Bush made a vague reference to "the Almighty." Of course, I didn't expect him to utter "Jesus Christ", but it would have been nice!
