In case we didn't have any real problems to worry about today, we can fret obsessively about this:
Oh my! And what did Ann Coulter say?
Well, it's not my idea of polite discourse either, but "hate speech"? Really now. If this is "hate speech", then what will the left have to say about a call to kill someone you disagree with? Oh yes, I forgot: the new term for that is "art". Of course, I think the term "hate speech" itself is inherantly bad and should be avoided: it puts the user in jeopardy by leading them to stand in judgement over the heart and motivations of another, and it further legitimizes the idea of "thought crime" which George Orwell (Eric Blair) tried to warn us about after his extensive involvement with the political left. One can only hope the university president similarly decried Al Franken for his book Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Michael Moore, for a calling a whole host of people Stupid White Men -- similarly harmful epithets read by many more people. What? He didn't? Imagine that! Why, it's almost as if there's a completely different set of rules for conservatives than for liberals. Or perhaps that such people are simply lying when they say such speech offends them. Add your two cents...
