An excellent point:

I shouldn’t be amazed that with all the media chest-thumping about their heroism in the Watergate story, made possible by the brave Mark Felt, that no one has mentioned the irony that Charles Colson went to prison on the charge of leaking a single FBI file. Felt was leaking confidential information, and raw files, not once, but repeatedly over a period of months.

I sometimes wonder if we didn't overblow Nixons alleged abuses. Did he lie? Apparently. But so did, uh, JFK, Johnson, etc. Did he tape conversations secretly? Yes, using a system installed by his predecessors, who did the same things. Did he attempt a cover-up? Probably. But it's hard to look at the Kennedy administration -- working hand-in-glove with the mafia (fer heaven's sake) and conclude Nixon was any worse.

Let's remember: Some still idolize JFK, while hissing at Nixon. I can't help but think they shouldn't be remembered similarly, as they were both great leaders in some ways, but also deeply flawed people in others.
