Being "Progressive" Apparently Means...

Embracing Marx's economic theories, which were formulated in the nineteenth century and utterly discredited by the close of the twentieth.

Adopting the sexual ethics which helped make ancient Greece the slave-owning, pedophilic, woman-degrading place it was.

Trying to ressurect the ancient religions that the vast majority of Europeans freely abandoned in favor of Christianity.

Bending over backwards to a seventh-century religion which allows slavery, polygamy, strongly controls women, and demands a state religion.

Wanting to undo the American experiment, and go back to the older system: rule by an unelected "elite" minority, not the majority.

Embracing the idea that minorities can't succeed unless whites help them out. Resurrecting the old racist argument that minories have inherantly different ways of thinking than whites.

I think it's true that conservatives want to go back to the 1980s (Duran Duran) and, except for the racism, even in the 1950s, in some ways. (Rates of marriage, standards for income, clean TV, etc.) I think that's a fair argument.

But that's so much more modern than most the ideas currently being promoted by the "progressive" left. That agenda strikes me as a grab-bag containing just about every failed idea disproven and rejected by history.
