Radar Online profiles new Democratic members of the 110th Congress. Among them are... Jason Altmire who wants to clamp down on lobbying, improve ethics, "wants to ban abortion except in cases of incest or when necessary for the health of the mother, wants to allow citizens to carry concealed guns, would 'greatly reduce' welfare spending, and believes the U.S. should stop supporting the United Nations." Bob Casey, an "NRA A-lister, is a prominent anti-abortion Democrat in the tradition of his father, who was famously barred from giving a pro-life speech at the 1992 Democratic National Convention." Joe Donnelly who "opposes abortion, supports extending the Bush tax cuts (though he makes an exception for the top one percent of earners), wants to get rid of the estate tax, and opposes gay marriage." Heath Shuler who opposes abortion, ran on what he calls "Mountain Values", and "began his victory speech by saying, 'I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.'" Most those profiled seemed to be against abortion, concerned about illegal immigration, pro-second-amendment, and positive on traditional values and religion. You know, I think the Democrats may be onto something here: it would seem that candidates like these have a certain appeal. Perhaps the Republicans should consider running a few like them. ;-) Add your two cents...
