I'm guessing their families came to join them here, so no need to send the money back anymore. 9% of Mexican-born citizens had moved here by 2004, and all estimations say that rates of immigration have been increasing since then.
Or that 2 million or more Mexicans have now moved to the US. The article also states that remittances to Central America are up. I guess, using their logic, it must mean that Central Americans here suddenly got more generous -- not that their numbers increased. Add your two cents...
