"I do not in any way disagree with James Cone. Jim is a personal friend of mine." - Jeremiah Wright Via John Hawkins, Jim Cone:
That Barack guy certainly has some interesting friends! Wait, that was Jeremiah Wright who said that yesterday. Whoops! Right. Corrected.
I've heard that some are speculating that Wright is secretly working for Hillary. Uh-huh. (See my previous comment regarding conspiracy theories.) I think this episode is more easily explained as a man who needed to be in the spotlight finding attention by saying whatever a certain audience wanted to hear -- then continuing that behavior past the point where it's helpful. (Oh, I and I do believe he actually believes it, too. They're not mutually exclusive.)
Instead, God seems to harsh equally on everyone's self-adulating vibe, and likewise offers ultimate hope to the whole world, not just one small group of people. God judges the Jews, if anything more harshly because he has expected more of them. Not so with Wright: he smugly assures his audience that the world's ills are everyone's fault but theirs. I think it was Jesus who said, if I remember it correctly: "First, before removing the log from your own eyes, peach endlessly about the alleged motes in others'..."
She no more "going insane" than Wright and his congregation were, for all those decades. Being on the left means never having to say you're sorry: every wrong thing you or someone in your group does is always someone else's fault.
Ack, you're right again. I dropped the "c". Must have been some racist tendency on my part. Or perhaps it was an unconscious attempt to associate him with a character on Space Ghost. That's what happens when you post quickly before bed. Wow. Two major errors in the same article. Ick! I feel like The New York Times! I blame Hillary Clinton for this. Posted by: Tim (Random Observations) on April 30, 2008 10:53 AM Hahaha! Great reply — somehow makes me glad for the typos. However, in regards to the prophets, do remember that there were those who said that. First off, Isaiah 8:12 had to be talking about people who were disseminating conspiracies. And the numbers of false prophets who told the king he was doing just fine while turning away from God. (Which I would look up and give reference, but unfortunately don't quite have time at the present moment) Hmm, didn't know who Alicia Keys was. Yup. I know government agencies love to invent musical styles. There are so many precedents for it. :-) Wow, comparing Obama to Brak is just great! Suddenly images of YouTube videos flit through my brain. ;-) Posted by: Michael Zappe on April 30, 2008 12:57 PM Okay, on the "white government trying to kill off the black people" conspiracy front, has anyone out there heard this one? A friend of mine was driving with his radio on AM late one night, when he heard this actually being discussed on a call-in show: the US Government (just the white part, apparently) has a device that can control the weather, which is how George W. Bush could steer Hurricane Katrina into New Orleans which is so heavily African American. Also, this device is responsible for global warming. But wait, it gets better: when global warming reaches its worst, space ships (which are sitting on the other side of the moon) will come down and beam up all the white people, who will wait until the other races are dead from the heat and then they will come down and inhabit the Earth. Apparently this woman was an author, and the host was in complete agreement with her! Is it me, or has the planet's population gone crazy all of a sudden? Wait, that was Jeremiah Wright who said that yesterday. You know, the person who Obama looked to as a mentor earlier in the year, but now says the press put those words in his mouth. ;-)
Terrifying, isn't it?
(And it's Barack not Barak.)
