Alex Holmes Sr. has been at rest in that cemetery for 15 years. But recent election records show he cast a ballot in this year's primary.... on the eve of an historic election -- when every vote in Cuyahoga County is considered crucial -- our NewsChannel5 investigation has once again uncovered thousands of dead voters still on the rolls, and ballots still being cast from beyond.
The exact number of dead voters is difficult to say this time because Ohio's Secretary of State issued a directive to Boards of Elections across the state to withhold dates of births in public records requests. That information is important in positively identifying dead voters.
- Cleveland's NewsNet 5
Jennifer Lee Brunner (born February 5, 1957) is an American politician of the Democratic Party who currently serves as the Ohio Secretary of State. Brunner is the first woman to serve in this capacity.
- Wikipedia
The apparent 'turn[ing] off' of this voter-registration-verification process, or at least the discovery that it had been turned off, prompted this dispute. For reasons that the record does not reveal and at a time the record does not reveal, [Brunner,] the Secretary of State apparently chose to deactivate at least part of the process, if not all of the process, described in section 15.4 of her manual....
So far as this record is concerned, the Secretary has given no tenable explanation why her current interpretation of the statute, as opposed to the office’s prior implementation of the law, remotely furthers the anti-fraud objective of the law.
- United States Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit, Ohio Republican Party v Jennifer Brunner
Well, the GOP is trying to disenfranchise these 200,000 people by challenging their right to vote, asking the Secretary of State here, Jennifer Brunner, to let the counties investigate.... essentially, what the GOP is doing is asking to disenfranchise people because of a minor typographical error.... this is a total red herring.... It is a felony to vote fraudulently, and people just don’t do it.
- Via PBS's "Democracy Now" -- of course we're not sure they're even "people" since election officials aren't being allowed to check.
... the Hamilton County Election Board and Ohio Secretary of State's office said they had no record of complaints. But in an interview with 700WLW's Bill Cunningham, [Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe] Deters said his staff reviewed 610 ballots cast, and found 266 with problems. He says 166 'voters' apparently don't exist. Another 100 had the wrong address listed on their voter registration card.
- 700WLW News. (By the way, that's almost 45% of the tiny sample of 610 ballots inspected, with a full 27% of them clearly fraudulent.)
Well, looks like Ohio's going for to "Democratic" party this year. Ironic name, that.
Democracy Now is PBS? I think that's got to be wrong. Even PBS hasn't gone that far yet, has it?
So, I just have to say that we need to give the Election Judges a little bit of leeway on this one. It can be very hard to tell the difference between zombies and die-hard Obama supporters, so we should give them the time they need to judge the matter appropriately. The best guidelines I see are that zombies:
* Smell bad
* Have a more lumbering gait
* Try to eat people's brains
* Don't react to pictures of President Bush
whereas die-hard Obama supporters:
* Smell bad too
* Have a more agitated manner
* Don't have much of anything to do with brains
* Tend to foam at the mouth when presented with pictures of President Bush
Using these guidelines, I'm sure the election judges can farily judge the election, without denying the zombie dead their right to vote, and keep them from being disenfranchised by livingists.
