Still Smearing Palin?

A couple nights ago, I was changing the TV channels, and happened to see CSPAN: the text at the bottom of the screen indicated that the man speaking was Newsweek's executive editor. He was saying: We know almost nothing about Barack Obama. This man is a blank slate. I watched for quite a while, and he continued to say how little we knew about our president-elect.

I was temporarily dumbstruck. Didn't he have, you know, some kind of news weekly thing under his command? Couldn't have they done a little investigation about this Obama-guy? I hear he had some interesting associates, and participated in some interesting financial deals. I also heard he attended an interesting church. And that he had some interesting views on education, as indicated by the, um, interesting choices when he sat on some kind of board of directors. Maybe this editor's magazine could have, you know, looked into those stories a little? I bet they would have helped its circulation too.

And yet there he was, on my screen, executive editor of one of the most influential sources of news in the nation, whose magazine has been, as best as I can tell, "in the tank" for Obama (search for Newsweek covers and compare for yourself), now telling us, after the election: "Well, none of us really investigated this guy."

So with that context, via American Thinker, here's an interesting and damning tidbit about Sarah Palin which appeared in Newsweek recently:

The day of the third debate, Palin refused to go onstage with New Hampshire GOP Sen. John Sununu and Jeb Bradley, a New Hampshire congressman running for the Senate, because they were pro-choice and because Bradley opposed drilling in Alaska.

The McCain campaign ordered her onstage at the next campaign stop, but she refused to acknowledge the two Republican candidates standing behind her.

Wow! That Palin really is a whack-job extremist hater! She won't even acknowledge any politician — even from her own party! — if they don't share some political view of hers.

Good thing Newsweek — with its "multiple layers" of checks and balances, and ability to do research we normal people can't — is on the job to bring us well-researched, accurate information like this.

Er, except:

I guess that might be remotely possible if it weren't for the fact that John Sununu has a 100 percent pro-life rating from the National Right to Life Committee.... Oh, and by the way, Jeb Bradley isn't running for U.S. Senate, as Newsweek reports. Perhaps they might want to check out Wikipedia before publishing the next batch of Palin smears.

WTG Newsweek! Really showing your stripes there. Both lazy and grossly partisan! (Quite the two-for-one deal!) Please, bring us more anonymous, unsourced reports like these. The American public hasn't been lied to enough yet.
