BigGovernment links to a disturbing video of schoolchildren being taught to praise Barack Obama, specifically, by name. Lyrics, approximately: Mmm, Mmm, Mmm. Barack Hussein Obama! The second song, to the tune of "Battle Hymn", is even more sycophantic: Hello Mister President Look at the lyrics: First, we have repurposed religious elements: The second song is the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", only reworked as, um, a bit more of a battle hymn of the Dear Leader. In the first song, we have the famous lines: Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight, Only "his" now refers Barack Obama, and instead of being "precious", the people of such colors are "equal" in "his sight." (Though you certainly wouldn't guess that from any of Barack's church's teachings.) More than a tad creepy: why does it matter how he views us? Normally, we want a President to execute policy; we don't worry how we're appearing in his eyes. Then we have the important maxim that "equal works means equal pay." A busboy probably works just as hard in two hours as Billy Joel does. So the busboy and Billy Joel should presumably make the same amount, as they're exerting equal effort. Never mind that a huge portion of the population could work as waitstaff, but there's only one Billy Joel. The government should, presumably, equalize their income. According to this song, government has a moral duty to take control of such things. It's not disturbing that children would admire a president. I was raised to admire JFK (and later, Jimmy Carter), and was even given a book which (in retrospect) clearly had that end in mind. But this was a family's decision, not a school's. By the way, I'd be similarly disturbed if kids were being taught to sing the praises of George Bush. I don't want schools becoming tools of partisan indoctrination. And true, this is just one school. That we know of. But it shows how comfortable many Americans are with authoritarian forms, and how naturally such forms can arise among those who don't recognize their historical uses.

So wrong for so many reasons! It's time we wake up and stop allowing the schools to run rampant teaching morals, political ideology and psychobabble. We have allowed them to have absolute power, creating little dictatorships. They trample on our childrens and our constitutional and civil rights.
As well as our rights as parents to raise our children according to our own values. While I understand that teaching some kids can be a challange, it does not give schools the right to intimidate, scare and demean children and parents that refuse to allow this to continue. Why are we so afraid to tell the schools "No More!"
